All Waters
Each member will be issued with a car parking pass carrying their membership number. New passes will be issued at the beginning of each season. Passes must be displayed prominently on the car dash board when fishing club waters.
Club competitions are part of our organisation and as such the following guidelines and rules will apply to ensure fairness and an equal chance of winning for all participants.
i) All competition entrants must be full club members or invited guests and hold a valid EA rod licence.
ii) All potential competitions must be notified to members at the AGM or by subs night at the latest if the organiser has
difficulty booking waters for the coming season’s matches.
iii) There are three types of club competition:
a. Ongoing annual competition for the best fish in the game category caught on club waters – requires photographic evidence and witness verification.
b. The best coarse fish where members can register their catches for committee consideration i.e. type of fish, weight
of catch, species caught etc.
c. Annual coarse fishing match series open to all members and invited guests; these generally take place at 3rd party day ticket waters.
iv) For coarse fishing matches the following rules will apply:
a. All competitors will meet before the start of the match and draw pegs, a committee member will be responsible for
pegging the venue and supervising a fair draw. If the draw and pegging is not agreed/appropriate alternate
arrangements must be clear and notified to all competitors prior to the event.
b. All competitors must have paid all fees before the match commences.
c. Once the draw is made, competitors must fish from the peg as drawn. Under no circumstances must the peg be
withdrawn or moved.
d. Competitors can set up any number of rods and poles prior to the event start time, plumb depths and set float
depths, but no baited hooks may be introduced into the water until the match organiser signals the official start.
e. Only one rod or pole and a single barbless hook to be used at a time during the competition. All other rods and
poles to be facing away from the water when not in use. Pennel and Stewart tackle or not permitted.
f. The use of bait boats, spodding and excessive ground bait are not acceptable competition tactics and will lead to disqualification.
g. Ground bait or loose feed may be mixed but not introduced into the water prior to the start of the match.
h. The limit on groundbait and loose feed is set by the individual fishery rules.
i. Floating baits are not allowed. All baits to be fished at a minimum depth of 12” (300mm) or greater below the surface
where the depth of water in the competitors peg permits. If the water is 12” (300mm) or less, then the bait must be
fished no less than half the depth of the water.
j. Competitors must be in possession of a suitably sized landing net and a keep net of a size appropriate to the size and number of fish likely to be caught.
k. Nets must be clean and dry prior to use to limit the spread of water borne diseases.
l. Multiple carp and small silver fish should not be kept in the same keep net. If an angler anticipates catching numbers
of dissimilar species and sizes, separate nets should be used. The match organiser may apply reasonable sanctions,
including disqualification, to any angler who mishandles or injures any fish during landing and unhooking.
m. Any fish that is foul hooked is to be returned to the water immediately and not entered for weigh in.
n. Assistance with landing fish may be given by fellow competitors if difficulties of large fish size and/or terrain are experienced by the angler or age/infirmity deem such assistance to be appropriate and reasonable.
o. Each angler is responsible for the welfare of the fish he/she catches, the use of a pre-wetted unhooking mat is recommended for larger fish, together with well sited keep net/nets with an adequate draft of water for the fish caught.
p. All anglers to cease fishing at the call of ‘time’ by the match organiser. If playing a fish when time is called, you must
announce ‘fish on’ and will be permitted 15 minutes to land said fish. Catches to be weighed on the bankside
adjacent to the peg by a committee member/match official and weights verified and recorded by those present.
q. Any competitor leaving his/her peg during the match (call of nature) must remove their tackle from the water.
r. All competitors are expected to behave in a ‘sporting manner’ and give consideration to all other competitors. Encroaching on adjacent/other competitors’ swims is not acceptable, any competitor who experiences such an action may
make a complaint to the match organiser. Serious infringements of this nature may lead to a competitor’s disqualification.
s. Any additional rules stipulated by the riparian owner of the water where the competition is being held also apply to all
competitors.
t. At the end of the match the angler is responsible for the removal of all waste, surplus bait and litter from the peg before leaving
